routinely pay the penalty for some of the choices we make for them. All agree that no
child should die as a result of the choices we make, or fail to make. To
accept the present rate of harm suffered by our children as a consequence
of our rules of safety failing to safeguard the well being of these fragile
and vulnerable beings who trust us with their lives is not understandable,
how much less acceptable, from any adult.
To make a world in which all children live in safety and happiness, is the
wish of all adults. To translate this wish into reality is the duty of all
adults. To endeavor towards this goal is within the ability of all adults.
To manifest this global wish into local realities is the moving impulse
behind the Anya Foundation. Its focus is on ensuring our laws are adequate
to maximize the safety of our children in their own homes.
The idea is simple. The execution requires some work. If you are a parent
you already appreciate this; if you are not but have lived long enough to
become an adult, help us help our children live safe enough to reach adulthood
too. We are not short of people who agree with the impulse. What we are
in need of is a modest supply of those who can translate ideas into actions.
